Monastery Muscle
All three CBNS corporate painted SD40-2s grind into the grade at Monastery, as the crew of 305 hustle towards their shift's end in Stellarton on June 6, 2021. The crew has swapped trains with 701's crew (based out of Port Hawkesbury) less than an hour prior with coal loads and PHP (Port Hawkesbury Paper) traffic. JS has little to no issue "battling" the hill with the train clocking in at 3140 Tons on the drawbar, as they move right along at golden hour.
Sunny Streamliners
Looking very smart in the afternoon sun, 42107 leads 4708 and 42101 around the curves at the famous Koolewong spot with Vintage Rail Journey's 'Golden West' tour, heading for Paterson where the train will spend the night. Strangely we had this whole spot to ourselves.
They had dwelled at Hawkesbury River for around 4 hours between the last shot and here, to allow guests to go for a boat ride.
