After almost a week the snow was still present. The change to spot the International train to Berlin in the Eempolder near Soest. After the international train went by I stayed a vouple of minutes to pass different EMU’s from the Dutch Railways as the SLT 2628.

456 006 leaving Clapham Junction for London Victoria
A cold but cloudy afternoon in November 1993 sees class 456 EMU 456 006 leaving platform 14 at Clapham Junction forming the rear of a Network SouthEast South London Lines suburban service to Battersea Park and London Victoria with the train being led by one of Selhurst depot's class 455/8 EMUs. Platforms 14 and 15 at Clapham Junction are renowned for their distinctive curvature of the track through these platforms, where back in the days of the 4 SUB and 4 EPB slam-door EMUs back in the 1970s and 1980s the guard had to get out from the rear of the unit onto the platform in order to check if all the passengers have safely boarded and alighted from the train in the days before CCTV cameras and monitors made things easier in the late 1980s. Also of note are the 1980s Network SouthEast red steel seats along with the Solari flip-over train indicator board with its different sets of destinations but normally defaulted to show just Battersea Park and Victoria stations. The white 'hair' on the left of this photo was as it was when the photo was developed as this photo was one of the last to be taken with my old Kodak 126 Instamatic camera!

37 377 stabled in Clapham Yard
A lucky find captured with my former 126 Instamatic camera in the confines of Clapham Yard one sunny afternoon in October 1993 was class 37 diesel locomotive 37 377 painted in its BR Civil Link grey & yellow 'Dutch' livery, with the locomotive seen stabled alongside class 442 Wessex Electric EMU 2415 on the left of the photo. By the early 1990s class 37s were becoming more prevalent on the BR Southern Region operating various freight trains and civil engineers trains with an allocation of these iconic diesel locomotives transferring to Stewarts Lane TMD depot following the closure of the former Ripple Lane TMD depot near Dagenham in East London.

33 051 'Shakespeare Cliff' approaching Wandsworth Road
Two former BR Southern Region traction icons for the price of one in this view of class 33 diesel locomotive 33 051 'Shakespeare Cliff' painted in its BR Civil Link grey & yellow 'Dutch' livery approaching the northern end of platform 2 at Wandsworth Road station in charge of an engineering train bound for either Hither Green or Hoo Junction on the early afternoon of Tuesday 10th March 1995.
Passing by in the opposite direction along the Kent Main Line tracks a class 411 (4 CEP) slam-door EMU is seen heading north in the direction of London Victoria on the short remainder of its express service from either Ramsgate or Dover Priory on the Kent Coast. The addition of the thin unpainted steel beading strips above and below the front end windows of this fleet of class 33 diesel locomotives painted in the BR Civil Link livery enhanced their appearance considerably.

73 207 'County of East Sussex' passing through Clapham Junction
A view of class 73 electro-diesel locomotive 73 207 'County of East Sussex' passing through the northern end of platform 12 at Clapham Junction station forming the rear of a northbound Gatwick Express service from Gatwick Airport to London Victoria on the cloudy afternoon of Saturday 10th June 1995. Over on platform 14 a pair of class 455 EMUs are seen on a suburban service to London Victoria while the red platform lampposts from the BR Network SouthEast days still dominate this once everyday 1990s scene at Clapham Junction.

EMU 234 behind.

First time?
C5 pauses at Glenbrook on 880C on what could be the first and last time a C set has been past Emu Plains, bound for Mount Victoria.
28th of February saw an end to the revenue service of the C sets. On the 6th of March, SETS ran a C set tour, "Chopper to the Summit", starting at Strathfield, then travelling to Mount Victoria, then back to Strathfield via Fairfield using the Y-Link. This tour was only made possible by the upgrades made to the Blue Mountains stations due to the NIFs.
As this tour was planned before the end of revenue services, the tour was then updated to then run to Hawkesbury River, still to go via Fairfield.

On the right, the building of the Urola Railway, which at the time of taking the photo was unused and with its accesses bricked up. Today everything has changed: the current station uses the Urola building, and all the tracks and outbuildings located to its left have disappeared. On the tracks of the old station, two EMUs of the 3500 series, one of them working a Bidexpress fast train from Bilbao to Donostia.(Improved scan of a paper photo taken by me).
