Rushcutters Bay
A little bit of rain about early, supposed to be clearer later.
Sydney’s Rushcutters Bay hosts the Cruising Yacht Club, but it was the venue for the New South Wales Voluntary Naval Brigade which used the site between 1880 and 1907 as a training venue.
For those who don’t know, Sydney Harbour has astounding bays that offer many peaceful nooks and crannies.

Cloudy dawn
The BOM (Bureau of Meteorology) says these clouds will remain benign today, but at dawn, it looks a little ominous.
Glancing across Rushcutters Bay, some Sydney City highlights - Sydney Tower, Garden Island, the Harbour Bridge… all sit under the mauve blanket.

World War II boat MV Rushcutter (HDML 1321) up on supports near East Arm Port entrance, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.
A historic warship that survived tragic World War II missions behind Japanese lines, a brush with ISIS and two years on the seabed, is running out of time as a $400m ship lift is about to be built in its yard.
The Rushcutter, renamed since its wartime registration title of HDML 1321, has had a patchy history since its launch in Hobart in 1943.
But its darkest days may be ahead.
It is listed on the 600-strong Australian Register of Historic Vessels.
Rushcutter sits on a purpose-built cradle in a commercial shipyard and while the boat appears in a reasonable and stable condition, voluntary efforts have slowed and there's no news of its next home.
The NT Government is about to start work on northern Australia's biggest ship lift on the site and hopes to lift the first ship in 2024. But Rushcutter will have to be long gone by then.
HDML 1321's most famous mission was in New Guinea in 1945 when it carried eight Z Special Unit operatives behind Japanese enemy lines in the unsuccessful raid on Muschu Island. Only Sapper Mick Dennis survived.
Post-war, it served the forces in Sydney as a training boat until decommissioning in 1970 when it entered private hands.
In 2016, the "Tinny Terrorists" backed out of buying Rushcutter for use in a plot to support ISIS.
Five months later in an unrelated incident, Rushcutter sank unattended at anchor while for sale in Cossack Creek in Darwin.
