1968 Triumph Spitfire
The Triumph Spitfire sports car was manufactured over five production iterations between 1962 and 1980. Styled for Standard-Triumph in 1957 by Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, the Spitfire was introduced at the London Motor Show in 1962. It was manufactured at the Standard-Triumph Canley works, with approximately 315,000 produced over 18 years.
This 1.3-litre 1968 Triumph Spitfire MDV 931F was seen in early morning mist in the Cotswolds.

Litter Pick - Prior Deram Park - 02 Mar 2024
The Nature Conservation team from Warwick Volunteers returning from a 4 hour community litter pick in Prior Deram Park, Coventry.
Heavily littered and a fly-tipping hotspot, the volunteers were kept busy clearing the bankside of Canley Brook that borders the park.
The waste recovered from 100 metres of Canley Brook included:
- 5 rusty shopping trolleys
- child's tricycle
- steel-framed pushchair (very heavy)
- 2 swivel office chairs
- carpet
- plastic astro turf with rubber backing
- 5 litres of used engine oil in an open container
- giant traffic cone
- 2 suitcases
- BMX bike frame
- gas meter logger
- 102 empty bottles of vodka (35 Cl)
- 18 bags of litter
The estimated weight of litter and bulky items was around 250 Kg.
This litter pick was organised by Warwick Arts Centre and supported by Coventry Park Rangers who took away the waste in their truck.
Holly Tree Bashing - Park Wood - 28 Feb 2024
Holly Trees growing close together can make a woodland dark and gloomy. Sunlight is unable to reach the woodland floor due to the thick leaves which stay on the holly tree all year round.
This impacts biodiversity in the woodland, as other tree species do not have enough light for seeds to germinate. Gradually over time, a species rich woodland (oak, chestnut, birch) can turn into a wood dominated by holly trees.
The Nature Conservation team from Warwick Volunteers are increasing light levels in Park Wood by thinning out the holly trees. Habitat piles are created from the cut down trees providing shelter for creatures that live in the woodland.
This conservation work also encourages bluebells to colonise the area where holly trees have been removed.

Woodland Path Clearance - Park Wood - 24 Feb 2024
The Nature Conservation Volunteers team from Warwick Volunteers cleared a woodland pathway of overhanging branches, improving access for people to explore the ancient woodland of Park Wood in Coventry.
Prickly holly trees had grown next to the path, making it difficult to navigate. This location is just inside the woodland, near to Park Wood Meadow.
With a team of 18 volunteers, we cleared 80 metres in a four hour session with loppers, pruning saws and rakes.

Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Carlos A. Ruiz thanks USS John L. Canley's sponsor Patricia A. Sargent, daughter of the late Sergeant Major John L. Canley (USMC Ret.), for allowing him to be a part of the ship's commissioning ceremony at NAS North Island on 17 February 2024. In his remarks, he spoke of the "amazing" life and career of her father and related his example to today's marines, sailors, and even civilians.

Platform attendees react as Capt. Thomas A. Mays, first commanding officer of USS John L. Canley, begins his remarks on what he enthusiastically called the "glorious morning" of her commissioning ceremony at NAS North Island on 17 February 2024. To his immediate left is Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro while on his far right is Canley's sponsor Patricia A. Sargent, daughter of the ship's eponym.
Canley will eventually have two full USN crews (Gold and Blue). Members of both crews participated in the commissioning ceremony, although the Blue crew is still being formed and doesn't have its commanding officer yet (Mays is currently the commanding officer of both crews). Canley also has a small civilian crew that handles much of the ship's routine operations such as engineering, etc.
