This Woodcroft project involved the complete replacement of an existing retaining wall that had reached the end of its lifespan. The objective was to construct a stronger, more durable retaining solution while incorporating modern drainage systems to improve long-term performance and protect the surrounding landscape.
Our team began by carefully removing the old retaining wall and preparing the site for the new installation. Excavation works were then carried out to create the required post holes, allowing for the installation of heavy-duty steel channels that would form the structural framework of the retaining wall. These steel supports provide exceptional strength and stability, ensuring the wall can withstand ongoing soil pressure and environmental conditions.
To maximise durability, drainage infrastructure was installed behind the wall, including drainage materials and protective mesh designed to assist with water management and reduce pressure build-up. Proper drainage is a critical component of retaining wall construction, helping to extend the lifespan of the structure and maintain its integrity over time.
Once the structural framework and drainage systems were in place, sandstone-pattern concrete sleepers were installed to create a retaining wall that combines strength with visual appeal. The textured sandstone finish delivers the natural appearance of stone while offering the durability and low-maintenance benefits of modern concrete sleeper construction.
The completed project transformed the outdoor space with a retaining wall solution that is structurally sound, aesthetically pleasing, and built to provide reliable performance for many years to come.
