On Wednesday, 9th January 2019 The Ghan consist made a very rare appearance into Sydney, working as the Indian Pacific. Due to a train derailment along the Trans Continental Railway which caused the cancellation of 1PA8 Indian Pacific service. The East bound Indian Pacific originated from Adelaide, thus making up the train consist between Adelaide-Sydney-Adelaide with The Ghan carriages instead of the Indian Pacific carriages. In this view we see one of The Ghan carriages, coded as ARJ, passing through Rookwood.
